Constipation is a widespread problem in kids. If your child is suffering from illness, here are five tried and tested methods to treat it!
Constipation is a widespread problem in children, and it is usually happening because the diet doesn't have enough liquid or slow in fiber. It can also be caused by stuck stool or maybe the side effect of some medications. Moreover, it also is due to if your child has IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or because of stress. It is essential to checked it out as early as possible if it lasts for 2-3 weeks or if it is a recurring problem. An extensive stool developed and stuck in your child's rectum, and somewhat liquid stool gets passed.
If your kid is suffering from constipation problem, here are some tried and tested methods that helps to treat constipation:-:
1. Give a high fiber diet with lots of fluids. This includes plenty of vegetables and fruits, whole grain bread, beans and legumes and high-fiber cereals. It is essential that your child is taking enough fluids because a high-fiber intake without sufficient fluids can make the problem worse. Add some fruit juices like apple, pear and prune juice in your kid's diet to help.
2. Establish a regular 'toilet time.' Building a routine to go to the toilet in the morning around the same time which helps to streamline the system. Try to develop a regular meal routine too.
3. Dip a piece of cotton into a small amount of Vaseline ointment, and kindly insert it through the anus, then quickly remove it, this procedure is done to stimulate the bowel movement. You may use glycerin since it will give better results.
4. Stool softener helps to clear the bowels and are safe to use but first discuss the proper and suitable dose with your pediatrician.
5. Give a warm bath to your child in a tub which helps in the rectal pain. Because the warm water will help pass the stool and relax the muscles. To stimulate a bowel movement, apply a warm, moist cloth to the anus.
NOTE:-Constipation is painful and discomforting, so consult with your pediatrician before going down this route.
